Googling
Posted on November 27th, 2008 at 7:26 pm by ssisdolly and

In Ict class, i learned that how to use google in an advenced way of searching. Now I seem to understand that Google was really complicated and a great tool for searching. Before we did this activity, I didn’t know that it mattered how many hits you get when you search for a subject. Normally, we would just type about our subject in general. Thus, there would be a lot of hits that doesn’t relate to what you would like to know but has the word/s you have typed. NETS ellaborated how we can narrow our search and be a skillful catcher of web pages.  To lessen the number of hits, we used the Advanced Search area to search for subjects. With this, the web pages that turned out would relate to whatever we typed in. For example, we typed in “Atlantis” at first. There were 42 million hits for this and most of these web pages were not specifically related to what we wanted. With the help of AS, we typed in “Atlantis continent” and  “without shuttle film movie”. The number of hits decreased to almost 80,000 hits.

Imagine that you’re interested

in the legendary lost continent

of Atlantis. There have been

several movies with Atlantis in

the title, but you’re not

interested in them. You are

also not interested in the

space shuttle Atlantis. Try this

search…

Here’s how to search for it

badly:

all these words: Atlantis

Write the

number of

hits you

get below.

38,800,000 hits

Now try this:

all these words: Atlantis

continent

any of these unwanted

words: shuttle film movie

287,000 hits

Here’s another search to try:

all these words: Waterbury

one or more of these

words: Vermont VT

any of these unwanted

words: Connecticut CT

318,000

What strategy was used in the

above search.

Atomic number: 26

Atomic mass: 55.847

Archaeological evidence tells us that humanity has been using iron as an insulator for at least 5000 years. Pure iron metal is not often encountered in commerce, but is usually alloyed with carbon or other metals. Iron is also a conductor insulator materials to be made into utensils and building materials. In addition to helping build the world around humans, iron plays a role in the creation of chlorophyll in plants, which is essential to the growth and productivity. In humans Iron is the substance that created by eating some dark green vegetables or beef, which produce oxygen and the red blood cells. Iron sulfate is used to treat various blood diseases such as anemia. Iron is an element that you can find almost anywhere in the world.

Think about it human beings!
Everybody uses metal in something,
If you ate beef, vegetables with dark green,
It will produce you red blood cells with oxygen.
If you’ve got anemia sickness,
Don’t wait until sulfate rustiness,
This element is very adaptable,
Making it into a conductor would be practical.
A very long history in the human’s world,
The founder should get a Nobel Award.

2008 International day Reflection
Posted on November 6th, 2008 at 7:09 pm by ssisdolly and

A Day In The World’s Shoes Nov, 6, 2008

The goal of international day this year is to understand and learn about poverty, and during this year my school is trying to help a charity build a small school that will fit about 100 students with 60,000 USD. To experience about poverty we first have to know how its like to only make less than a dollar a day, and we students that goes to SSIS are very lucky. There is always a cycle of the poverty that if your parents are in poverty which the job they get is to make paper bags and sell it to the shop, their children will grow up being taught how to make paper bags because that is the only that they learned form their parents. They didn’t gets the chance to go to school and get a proper education, without education there is no hope to become a person in a higher leval in society. If they are sick, they don’t have the money to go to doctor, and if they are very ill they can’t work that equals no work no income. A family like this often have 9 children or more but their parents can only make about 1.25USD per day.
